Canadian Criminal-A Career?

When I think of the term criminal it usually conjures up an image of bank robbers, guns, and generally not nice people. I agree with a persons environment having a measure of influence on their future. It just makes sense that a child growing up in the “well to do” areas will have greater opportunity than one growing up in the slum or ghettos. That being said, I also believe that a person is responsible for their own actions. We all have a responsibility as part of a Society to keep the peace and help our fellow man(woman). So can someone explain to me how a man can rack up 60 criminal convictions and still be out on the street free as a bird? This man, Jeremy Accobee, has been sentenced to eight years in prison, convicted of sexual assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, robbery and breach of probation for raping and beating a woman in an apartment stairwell in Sept, 2008. I’m not sure if that was #60 or #61 but seems to me someone should have done something about him along time ago.

Jeremy Accobee asked the woman for a cigarette, then punched her in the head and dragged her to a nearby apartment stairwell. Then he continued to beat the woman in the head and raped her. When he was finished, he stole the woman’s purse and ran away. Obviously this is a very dangerous, violent man, and he should have been locked away a long time ago. So who to we blame? The Courts, police, or the System? What kind of system allows for a criminal such as this so many chances? To make matters worse, he will serve less than 8 years in jail for this crime. Yes, less than 8 years. Almost enough to make a person want to give up. Almost.

  1. What system, you mean the rotating door system that we have now.

    • Yes indeed, and this is one of the consequences. This could have been prevented.
