GPS for trash – not Children

Every day we hear about another missing child or a child’s body has been found murdered, victim of yet another abduction and rape. A great percentage of these crimes are committed by sex offenders, and most of them are registered. Some of them even wearing monitoring devices while they commit their heinous crimes over and over. In fact some of these crimes happening right under the nose of law enforcement but still, it happens. We have been told that these people need help, and they are not to blame for the things that they do. They need treatment, and pity, because they had a rough childhood. So they are handed light sentences and released back into Society to rape and murder our children again and again.

I have been advocating GPS for children for some time now, and though some interest has been expressed by some people, generally there is a misguided fear of losing privacy, or government exploitation. Then we have GPS tracking devices put on trash to see where it goes, and have multiple agencies follow the devices in real time. Excuse me? We have rapists, murderers, sexual offenders, and all kinds of other criminals out there wandering the streets free to do what they want, re-offending often two or three time before they are sentenced appropriately. And we are putting GPS on trash. We have children being stolen from their beds to be raped and murdered, children abducted off the streets on their way home from school, from the park, and we are more concerned with tracking trash and watching it real time. When did trash become more important than our children? Why is there not more energy being put into protecting our most vulnerable, instead of watching garbage travel around the globe? I guess nothing will change until a politician loses a child to one of these monsters. Maybe then it will be important enough to do something about it.

  1. misguided fear of losing privacy? What is misguided about it?
Just put the pedophiles down like the animals they are and there is no need for draconian measures that definitely take away from privacy.
Those that give up freedoms for a little more security deserve neither freedom or security!

  2. @Durward:

Amen, brother. I don’t see why society should have to wrap their children in a smothering security blanket to keep them free from the clutches of these low life animals. Just eliminate them like the vermin they are. And don’t give me any crap about driving these scum underground. They don’t exactly work in the open as it is. (Although it’s getting to be more and more that way) Besides, creepy, crawly things usually do live underground.

  3. privacy?? How are you losing privacy if your childs where abouts is able to be seen by a monitoring station? How does that translate into losing privacy? Where would you have your child that you would care?

Put the pedo’s down is NOT GOING HAPPEN…THAT’S MISGUIDED! IN the meantime, we need to protect our children AT ANY COST!

What do you think, a gps on your child will show him as a real person on a tv screen or what? Seeing into your childs room? What? Your child’s where abouts would show up as a dot on a geographical map…WHERE’S THE LOSS OF PRIVACY…I DON’T GET IT…

What FREEDOM is given up…explain please…those of us who know full well the amount of dangerous and repeat offenders living next door to us..down the street is outrageous..they are EVERYWHERE…and you’d rather take your chances with your childs life.

So basically what you are saying is those of us who will do anything to protect our children have no rights!!!

    Wow..great post!

  4. I’ve said it before. I could care LESS if BIG BROTHER is watching me. They will get real bored real fast! What will they see? A mom driving their kids to school, afterschool activities, walmart, dentist, doctor, school, walmart, grocery, restaurant, school… well you get the picture.

I will do anything to protect my kids. ANYTHING.

I will advocate KILLING these predators and baby rapists any day but UNTIL that actually starts happening, I will take all the resources I need to watch over my children. Nothing is better than parental supervision but we know that cannot happen 24/7. I know many children who would be alive TODAY if they had a GPS implanted… ask their parents if they’d DO ANYTHING to get their baby back. Who the hell cares about big brother watching when their baby is dead in a grave.

  5. There are quite a few GPS systems currently available for children. Google shows several.

Beast, what is it about the GPS systems currently available that you find substandard? Also, imo, as far as ‘big brother’ watching, I think that can easily be overcome by the private industry offering various types of GPS parents would like. It would simply depend on the costs to maintain the service and how many of us could afford such services based on competition and the number of companies offering such service. I consider it similiar to those parents who chose to bank their childs cord blood immediately after birth as opposed the the usual cord blood being discarded. From what I’ve researched on banking cord blood it was out of my price range and even if I could afford it, I wasn’t even aware of it until after my son was born.

JMO and some additional thoughts and questions.

    • Yes Cubby there are several types of “external” devices available, and they differ in size and performance. What we are advocating for is an implanted device that can not be lost, misplaced, or tossed aside in the event of an abduction. They are about the size of a grain of rice, cannot be misplaced, forgotten, or seen. And can be tracked anywhere in the world.

  7. I had a discussion about the GPS … and have some questions … Would the implanation of the device,by a qualified pediatric surgeon be approved by medical insurance? Where would such a device be sold? Would it be affordable for the average person? Where would this be implanted,so it couldn’t easily be “cut off”,like an earlobe?
