Phillip Garrido – Police dropped the ball

We have all been told that police use the latest tools and technology, and the public has nothing to worry about. When pedophiles, violent sex offenders, or other such vile beings  are released back in to society, we are assured that safety of the public is their number one priority. Police will be watching. Police will keep them under surveillance. Police have the situation under control. But do they? Can they? Or is it all just a smokescreen? As mentioned here in a previous entry a repeat sexual offender has been released “again” back in to society just outside Toronto, and police will be watching him closely. He has already re-offended twice, so are they going to be watching closer this time? His name is Brendon James MacNeill, be aware.

Now there is this guy, Phillip Garrido. He is registered as a sex offender, regularly visited by parole officers, and fitted with a GPS ankle bracelet to track his movements. Not only are police watching him, they have a real time electronic device strapped to his body so they know where he is at every moment of every day. SO how is it then that he was able to abduct little Jaycee Lee Dugard? When she went missing where were the police that were supposed to be watching him? Is there not a log of his movements that could have shown he was in the area of her disappearance? Not to mention they could not have been watching him very closely if he was able to do this in the first place. It boggles my mind he could abduct this little girl and keep her hidden for 18 years and father 2 children with her, and the police that were watching him had no clue what was going on. Who are the idiots here? The police responsible for this fiasco, or the public for trusting them to protect us?

Now police are going to be digging up his yard, cadaver dogs finding bones all over the place. They will be using ground penetrating radar there could be so many bones, and buried deeply in the backyard. This didn’t catch anyone’s attention? The police “watching” him didn’t think it warranted a look? At the very least a casual inquiry as to what he was doing? Police have said that there are concrete slabs randomly placed all over the backyard. Sgt. J.D. Nelson of Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said this “piqued our interest.” Too bad all this activity didn’t seem to pique the interest of the officers watching Garrido. Michaela Garecht has been missing since 1988, and Ilene Misheloff since 1989, police are investigating whether the bones in the backyard are related to their disappearance. In other words. Maybe police were watching while Garrido was up to quite a lot of things, that should have piqued their interest. Just looking at his criminal history should have raised more concern that it did.

It is too early to tell if the remains in the backyard belong to these two little girls, and if this is proven to be the case surely this man should be facing the Death Penalty. And it begs the question. If this was possible under the watchful eye of law enforcement how is it possible that they can protect us at all, and if they cannot then why are these offenders being released? When are we going to get a “one strike” law? If you abduct a child, rape a child, kill a child, ANY one of these crimes should mean a mandatory life sentence.

Please sign this petition, we need to force politicians to do a better job protecting us from these types of criminals.

  4. Jaycee will testify against the Garrido’s in court. This must be incredibly hard for her and the children, but thankfully she is safe now.
